A colorful and squishy shawl to warm you in cold days. Juno is a cozy shawl worked from the top down in 4 different colors of the softest merino fingering wool you can find.
This is a very simple shawl perfect for those who already had a little experience with brioche and want to take a step further.
In one side, only one color is used. In the other, 3 different colors alternated give you a fun transition and a nice effect that only brioche stitch can provide.
Have fun!

Notes
This piece start at the upper middle of the shawl. If you are not super confident when knitting brioche, I suggest you use a lifeline every several rows.
Considerations about the color work
I used only 1 color/1 skein in one side and the other 3 on the other side. So, you are going to have in one side the same skein from the beginning to the end (hereafter called main color or MC) and change only the colors on the other side (hereafter called contrasting color or CC).I knitted approximately 12 repetitions of part 2 in each contrasting color. After these 12 repetitions, I made some stripes, alternating every two rows the previous cc with the next cc three times total. For that, the color change happens ONLY and JUST in the rows 3: (LS DC).
Since this is a shawl, you are free to play with your own imagination and alternate the colors as you wish.
Wrapped cast on Make a magic ring (wrap a circle wrapping both yarns together clockwise around your left finger once), leaving approximately a 15cm tail. With LC, insert your right needle in the middle of the circle and k1,yo, k1, yo, k1, yo, k1 (total 7 stitches created). Tighten up the wrapped circle by pulling the tail.
Abbreviations DS – dark side of work – the “knit” columns on this side of the work are in the dark color. LS – light side of work – the “knit” columns on this side of the work are in the light color. DC – dark color – use the dark-colored yarn. LC – light color – use the light-colored yarn.
Example: LS LC means the side of the work facing you has light-colored “knit” columns and you will be working with the light-colored yarn in that row.
sm – slip marker brk – brioche knit. brp – brioche purl. brkyobrk (2-stitch increase) Into ONE stitch: brk1 leaving stitch on left hand needle, yo (yarn forward under needle then over needle to back), brk1. In the next row, whenever you come to these newly created stitches, you are going to sl1yo as you are used to do and simply purl instead of brp. br4st inc – brkyobrkyobrk (4-stitch increase) = Into ONE stitch: brk1, yo, brk1, yo, brk1. In the next row, whenever you come to these newly created stitches, you are going to sl1yo as you are used to do and simply purl instead of brp.
Directions With the wrapped cast on, make 7 stitches. Do not turn, slide the stitches back to the opposite end of needle.
Set up row 1: (LS DC) (sl1yo, p1) three times, sl1yo. Turn. Set up row 2: (DS LC) brp1, *sl1yo, brp1*, rep from *. Do not turn, slide. Set up row 2: (DS DC) sl1yo, * brk1, sl1yo*, rep from *. Turn.
Part 1 row 1: (LS LC) brk1, sl1yo, br4st inc, place a marker (hereafter called central marker), sl1yo, place another marker (hereafter called central marker), br4st inc, sl1yo, brk1. Do not turn, slide. (15 sts). Note: these two markers isolate the central stitch where you’re gonna have a spine. row 1: (LS DC) sl1yo, brp1, (sl1yo, p1) twice, sl1yo, sm, brp1, sm (sl1yo, p1) twice, sl1yo, brp1, sl1yo. Turn. row 2 and all DS LC: brp1, *sl1yo, brp1*, rep from *. Do not turn, slide. row 2 and all DS DC: sl1yo, * brk1, sl1yo*, rep from *. Turn.
Part 2 row 3: (LS LC) brk1, sl1yo, brkyobrk, work in brioche st to the last st before the central marker, brkyobrk, sm, sl1yo, sm, brkyobrk, work in brioche st up to the last three sts, brkyobrk, sl1yo, brk1. Do not turn, slide. (8 sts increased) row 3: (LS DC) brioche stitch, working the increases when you come to it. row 4 and all DS LC: brp1, *sl1yo, brp1*, rep from *. Do not turn, slide. row 4 and all DS DC: sl1yo, * brk1, sl1yo*, rep from *. Turn.
Repeat the rows 3 and 4 as many time as you wish. For a shawl as shown in picture, I repeat these rows 48 times (407 sts total at the end).
